Are you asleep? (Android app com.makondo.sleepcheck) asks every few minutes whether
you are awake and, if you don’t answer, wakes you with vibration and sound. This page explains what happens
to your data.
In short: the app collects no data. It has no internet access — it doesn’t even request the permission for it — no account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. Nothing leaves your phone through the app.
Who is responsible
The app is developed by Alex Ilinskiy. Contact: aleksandr8693@gmail.com.
What is stored on your phone
- Your settings: how often to ask, the steps of your chain, their durations and the chosen melodies (as references to sounds already on your phone).
- The state of the current check, for example when the next question is due, so the schedule survives a restart.
This data stays on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it.
Android backup
If backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Android may include the app’s settings (not the state of the check) in your device backup in your Google account. Google makes and stores that backup under your account and its terms; the developer has no access to it. You can turn backup off in Android settings.
Permissions and why
- Notifications — to ask the question and show the countdown.
- Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) — to ask and escalate exactly on time.
- Full-screen notifications — to show the question over the lock screen.
- Vibration, foreground service, keeping the phone awake — to keep vibrating or ringing until you answer.
- Run at startup — to restore the schedule after the phone restarts.
- Live updates (Android 16) — to show the countdown in the status bar.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and doesn’t collect data from anyone.
